Well done amazin what was going on behind the seems always wondered if author was being a little opportunistic enjoyed the book
Great inside view of the chaos at City Hall. Worth a read if you are interested in politics, or were in some way involved in the mess that was Rob Ford.
I wanted to like this book as I surely felt sympathy for anyone who had to deal with, handle, wrangle etc., Rob Ford. The first part of the book is dry as Towhey describes coming into the campaign and getting to know the mechanics of working for this family and the differing personalities involved. When he describes some of the alcohol and drug fuelled antics, the pace picks up but I was astounded by Towhey's actions or lack thereof. The famous phone call? He should have called police immediately. Drunks+guns+children? Covering for Ford and using deft, sleight of hand language to finesse the message was unconscionable. I understand that economics made him stay longer than he should have, but the high road would have been to blow the whistle. Yes he would have been fired a lot sooner but I think his self esteem would have been more intact.

Brings "other duties as required" phrase to a job description to the ridiculous! Having to enable him to hide his addiction to the extent you did 24/7 would have left anyone depressed. Hoping this book really helps the healing process. Found it insightful to understanding city politics.
